Lucas Di Angelo and his wife Joanna were madly in love. Unfortunately, they started drifting apart due to Lucas's frequent work travel, Joanna's busy career, and the fact that they had different goals for when to start a family. When Lucas offers Joanna an ultimatum before flying to Hong Kong, she is devastated, but also very angry. She's not going to let him treat her that way, even if he is her husband. But when she tries to contact him to straighten things out, he's always busy or not taking her calls, heck, even his cell phone number is changed…and Joanna didn't get the new number! To top it all off, his secretary Gloria is making all kinds of innuendos, implying that Lucas is having an affair. When Joanna flies to Hong Kong, Lucas isn't available, but Gloria is in his bedroom. Joanna assumes the worse and flies back to the states, then demands a divorce.

Back in the United States, Lucas intends to go through with the divorce, but when he sees Joanna again, all he can think about is making love to her. He sees red when she is busy flirting with a guy friend, and Lucas vows that he's not going to let his wife go. Too bad Joanna has no plans to just accept his edict. She is starting to second-guess her original assumptions about his supposed cheating ways, but she knows that there are still problems between them. Thus, she initiates a little challenge. Joanna wants total control of their relationship. She will decide where they go, what they do, and she will pay for everything. In return, Lucas decrees that she has to trust him. She has to give their marriage another chance. Lucas doesn't want to risk losing Joanna again, so he's willing to take her challenge. So it begins. The stakes are high and the only thing that can save this marriage is the power of love.

Joanna's Challenge is the story of a woman who doesn't want to risk her heart, but in the end, learns that risking her heart is the only way to truly love someone. These are two characters that are madly in love with each other, it is obvious from the very beginning of the story, but Ms. Fredrichs nonetheless pens a strong story of two people who have to look at their relationship, reevaluate it and in the end, they revitalize their marriage and themselves. Joanna is a great heroine because she is very strong, even when she is at her lowest points. Plus, she manages to find humor in so many different situations involving Lucas. Their rollicking sexual banter adds another level of sensuality to this story. All in all, I was most impressed. This story has so many wonderful layers that it is hard to describe them all, so be sure to read this story for yourself, because that's the only way you'll discover how Joanna and Lucas save their marriage, and in the process, rediscover the importance of love.
