| Krissy is one of a group of friends who call themselves the six-pack; three women and three men. They spend most of their free time together and Krissy's special friend is Johnny, with whom she has been best friends since elementary school. Krissy has just found out that her case of endometriosis has gotten so bad that her doctor wants her to have a hysterectomy. Just in her mid twenties, Krissy is distraught at the idea of never having children. She asks her best friend, Johnny, to help her find a man with whom to have a baby. Krissy has no idea that Johnny is desperately in love with her. Will he help her find a man who is willing to forgo a condom?
Johnny Loves Krissy is an interesting book about the dangers these days of a woman's “ticking clock.” Krissy wants a baby, even though she knows that she is not ready to be a mother. Johnny is in law school and wants to wait to have a family until he is settled, but time has run out. Ms. Waters has done a wonderful job of describing her characters-all six of them. The secondary characters are perfect examples of twenty-somethings these days; while Krissy and Johnny move on from that age of independence. I found the cenes of Krissy and Johnny trying to do what was best, and then letting their friends know the problen very poignant. The friends' behavior was very typical of young people today and I thought that Ms. Waters had a good grasp on her characters feelings. There are fun, arousing and funny scenes of sex between the two main characters and I enjoyed that very much. The plot flows nicely with an interesting twist at the end. Ms. Waters has a feel for he characters and I found them to be very true to life. I will enjoy reading more of her work.
