| Mirabelle Levange was having a really bad year. This latest return trip to the same hospital she just left was the icing on the cake. Now she not only had no lawyer job or family, but she had a broken leg. Little did she know that her life would change that night and it would get better quickly. Maybe it was too much, too good, too fast. Only time would tell. In the meantime, she would just take her medication for her depression and keep her medical problems to herself.
Kevin Porter was known as a playboy attorney with a large, profitable firm in town. He was known for changing girlfriends frequently. However, the ladies never seemed to learn a lot about him personally. Nobody seemed to know he had an eight-year-old daughter, Annabelle. She was living three hours away on his family’s horse ranch with his sister. His wife died when Annie was four and Kevin worked such long hours that his sister, recently becoming an empty-nester, agreed to help him. He couldn’t seem to let go of the love of his wife. Then, he met Mirabelle. Denise Gwen has written an in-depth book about the inner circle of attorneys and judges. It was a compelling book and I really enjoyed her characters. The "couple" were so realistic that I could visualize them acting and reacting just as the story developed. I liked the way she used the supporting characters to very effectively complete the storyline. The action never dragged, even though the book was lengthy. The sensuality was well written—not offensive. The interactions between co-workers as well as family members enhanced the story. I enjoyed this book and am pleased to recommend it to others. I look forward to more from this author because I like her writing style.
