| Julian "Jules" Hawkins is the leader of Dawn Endeavor not only through the Circ's natural dynamic but also because he always puts the best interests of his team first. Thus, when he is captured and tortured by the enemy, his thoughts are focused upon escape and the protection of his teammates. When he is visited and rescued by an angel in white who calls to his beast like no other, he has to determine whether the person his beast wants most is a detriment to his team's safety.
This book is the third installment in the fantastic Dawn Endeavor series. As a fan of Ms. Harte's series, I was not the least disappointed in Julian's story. Jules has always been one of my favorite characters in this series as he was the most mysterious and seemingly controlled. I sat in anticipation of his story and the eventual shake up of his well contained world. I enjoyed Julian's internal conflict regarding what was best for him versus what was best for the rest of the team. Jules' heroine, Sheridan, was a feisty young researcher who stumbles across him and decides to assist him in escaping his tormentors. Sheridan's courage in the face of multiple unknown circumstances makes the perfect complement to Jules. I also enjoyed the manner in which the other members of the team interacted with Sheridan, particularly Gunnar's interaction with Jules and Sheridan. While the majority of the sexual scenes are male/female, Jules does not shirk his duties as team leader and ensures that Gunnar as the only unmated team member is cared for. I only had one complaint about this book. I did not enjoy or completely understand Sheridan's special abilities. However, this minor complaint did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. I love this series and the constant surprises and plot twists that Ms. Harte puts in each book. I can't wait for the final installment in this series and the conclusions it will bring.
