| When we visit Orchard Hill, we are always reminded of the drama Pansy Parker and Misty Green have ongoing in their matchmaking schemes. Several couples have benefitted from their kindly interference. However, not all couples in Orchard Hill need their help. Such was the case for Susan Schmidt and Cal Wensloff. Once again Ms. Russell has given us a glimpse of this small town and its citizens. Reading another segment of her series is like returning home or visiting an old friend.
Susan had a crush on Cal in high school. Unfortunately he never seemed to notice her. Now he was back and seemed to be more than interested in her. Susan’s father had no trouble treating her like she was still twelve-years-old. He didn’t want Susan with Cal and he informed them both he disapproved. Russell’s characters, as always, are vibrant, likeable people that made the book another winner. Her concept of the townspeople and their surroundings has become a series I cannot wait to get each time a new one emerges. Her on-going supporting cast members are endearing and enjoyable to revisit. I can highly recommend this series. A Russell novel is one not to be missed. Her stories are sweet, realistic and fast-paced. Congratulations, Ms. Russell, on another novella bound for the top-sellers’ list.
