Marilyn Mason O'Malley has a major problem-her most prolific cookbook author. She is an editor at her father and uncle's small publishing company, having left her job as a reporter in order to help them. Jackson (Jack) Delacroix is so handsome that she fantasizes over his cover picture, but he is so darned stubborn! As many times as she tries to get him to commit to some kind of publicity as agreed to in his contract, he has that many excuses not to participate. Finally, in exasperation, Marilyn arranges a cooking competition right at his trout ranch in Oklahoma-and she flies down to oversee. Unfortunately, Jack has one tiny secret-he can't cook!

What a hoot! I started laughing during the first chapter and did not stop until I finished the book. Marilyn and Jack are well-written characters whose relationship moves the plot along. There are equally interesting secondary characters, especially Marilyn and Jack's best friend. The decisions that the four of them make in order to get Jack through the contest are inventive and hysterically funny to read. Sexual encounters between the two are graphic, erotic and loving. I had to stop occasionally and reread. It was great to read a story where sex included love, but was still erotic. Ms. Cash's conceit of having a Creole recipe at the beginning of each chapter was pure fun-and I would like to try some of them, however, not the recipe for fort-seven people! Ms. Cash has a wonderful premise and her plot flows seamlessly, with no bumpy patches. There were misdirections throughout and they added to the story. This is the first Lyn Cash book that I have read-it will not be the last.
