| When uptight Principal Katherine Elizabeth Tipton meets Steve Walker, the father of Cora Walker, one of her students at Gardenview Elementary School, Katherine expects nothing but another discussion of the antics of his daughter Cora. Katherine and Steve meet and have an immediate explosive chemistry. Steve's house is always loud, colorful, lively. Katherine wishes she were a part of it. Katherine is engaged to an accountant named Alan Linden. They have never slept together nor have they set a wedding date. They were introduced by their mothers. Alan is safe, secure but BORING. Steve believes he's falling in love. Katherine doesn't understand why she's reacting so strongly to Steve when she's engaged to Alan. She also doesn't understand why Steve is entirely disrupting her ability to sleep.
I loved the characters of Katherine Elizabeth Tipton and Steve Walker. Katherine was a person who appeared very uptight on the surface but you felt there was a siren just waiting to break out underneath. The sexy lingerie she always wore was a significant clue. Steve was a person who lived every moment and had great joy. Things were always very lively when Steve was around. Spending time with Steve made Katherine look at her own life and she felt something had been missing - something significant. There were a number of colorful characters whose stories overlapped Katherine and Steve's. They were Cora Walker, Steve's daughter, Ralph Walker, Steve's father, Grace Tipton, Katherine's mother, Cousin Denny, Steve's cousin, and Melinda and Theresa, Steve's nieces. This is a very lively story. The story is beautifully written and the characters just leap off the pages, especially Elizabeth and Steve. I recommend it to everyone.
