Lauren is visiting her sister in New York when she sees Victor Raven across a room full of people. He’s sexy, masculine, and completely unlike her ex-fiancé. He intrigues her, and she's determined to discover what a man like Victor can make her feel. And judging by his actions, He’s just as determined. But a series of mishaps give Lauren a slightly less idealized view of Victor, and in response, she decides to make him work harder to win her.

But though they both start out with intentions of fun, and nothing more, things change. When it becomes apparent to both of them that they want more, they'll have to figure out how to work that out.

I enjoyed the story, but would have more if it weren't for the beginning. At first, Lauren was too reckless and sometimes on the immature side. With the beginning of her relationship with Victor, I was convinced she was a young girl playing at being an adult. As for the spicy rating on Just One Look, it was and it wasn't. There was quite a bit of heat, but the lovemaking sometimes became odd, such as the way Lauren talked to Victor. I just couldn't see her calling him tiger or magnificent lover with seriousness. I'd have found the story better if the lovemaking had been toned down to mildly sensual. But this was, overall, a pretty good story. It seemed to be in the fashion of Judith McNaught’s first novels (though with an entirely different style). The romance was, after the initial sexual start, very heartfelt and sweet. It was easy to see how they started their affair, and how they progressed to a full, loving relationship. Victor's daughter, Rachel, was an unexpected addition to the story, and though I rarely say it, her addition really improved the believability of Victor and Lauren's romance.
