| Karola, daughter of The Huntress, Diana, discovers a new adventure in the forest she frequents. Having been raised by Dryads and Kelpies, she has never seen another being such as herself, outside of her own home, and certainly never knew such differences existed. Damien, a skilled hunter in his own right, ventures from his village of Athenara and finds bounty on which he hadn’t counted. His unplanned prey becomes a willing student, and Damien takes great joy in teaching Karola about the anatomical differences in the male and female body in a most tantalizing way. Although innocent and unskilled in the art of lovemaking, she makes it hard for Damien to believe she hasn’t known a man before. Karola’s Hunt by Deirdre O’Dare is chock full of descriptive and steamy sex, but I thought the storyline could have been a little stronger. The author writes very well, and I could certainly visualize each scene, but she mentions secondary characters, but does little to develop them, and doesn’t follow up on ideas she plants in the readers mind.. I found myself wondering where Karola came from and how her mother became The Huntress. I didn’t get a feel for where they lived and why she didn’t know anything about her father. I would have liked to have connected a little more with Karola. I do have to admit that the sex scenes kept me turning pages, so if you are looking for a short story that raises the temperature quite a bit, then you’ll certainly enjoy this one.
