The first part of this book tells the story of Asurul and Isa. This gives the background and tells how the series started. Even though it's only about twenty pages it is very important because it gives you the history of the book.

Miranda is attacked by demons when she is saved by Michael, who fights demons and knows the damage they can do. Miranda is totally out of her league considering she didn't even know demons existed, let alone demon slayers. When a particularly nasty demon makes Miranda his target, her only hope of surviving is relying on the one man she really doesn't understand, Michael.

Michael saves Miranda from the demons and tries his best to distance himself from her, but when a powerful demon general goes after her he knows the only way she will stay alive is under his protection. Not joyful over having to baby-sit the mortal, he has tried to distance himself from feeling anything for anyone. Now he can't seem to fight those feelings where she is concerned, will it affect his ability to kill?

This is an exciting read and you won't give up until it's finished. Michael is really a tortured soul who still suffers under his mother's strong hand. Miranda is completely lost in a world she doesn't understand, but her feelings for Michael are intense. The imaginative world of demons and demon slayers is sure to keep even the most jaded reader interested. An introduction of how the series gets started goes a long way in helping to understand the background of the book. An excellent read for paranormal lovers!
