| The story opens on July 4, 1919. Trevor Wilkins is waiting for his
extended family to come together for the festivities planned later in
the day. War is months past; family members slowly are returning home.
Trevor's thoughts move to years past, to that special day when he
first met the woman who would become his wife.
The existence that Claire is dealing with when Trevor meets her little family is so full of despair. She tries so very hard to make everything work but it is a losing battle in more ways than one. Trevor opens up all the "what ifs" the poor woman had in her subconscious by just being there for her and her family. If only her life had been different. Over the next few days she finds her acceptance of Trevor; he is just so good for her, and for the children. Then a horrendous storm leads to the sharing of something special. The next day, Claire gets a massive shock when she misconstrues something she sees, and it puts the little family on the run. Trevor's shock when he realizes they are gone and the subsequent search all help him to understand that the family has succeeded in cracking the defence of this staid bachelor. I have to give a tissue warning for this story; some moments were so heart warming that I went through more than one pack—just wonderful. There are truly too many events to begin to cover but absolutely all make this story complete in the way they shape the characters. Wonderful secondary characters, every single person, add to the depth of the story. A superb reading experience! Please note that although this is Book 3 in the Keeper Series, it easily stands alone. Keeper of the Spirit and Keeper of the Dream are the other two stories centring around the Wilkins Brothers
