Carrick Francis (Crick) has loved and admired Deacon Winters since he was a young boy. Crick would do anything to please Deacon. Deacon has likewise loved Crick in one way or another since they were boys. He would do anything for Crick to have a better life away from the town of Levee Oaks, the people there and his past. But like life, things happen and plans change. As they are starting their new relationship, Crick makes an impulsive decision that tears them apart, leaving Deacon alone. Can Crick find his way home to Deacon and the people he loves?

When I first picked this book, I was not sure I would like it. But it turned out to be an incredible book. The author drew me into the story. Reading about the characters and all the things that happened to them, made me feel so many emotions. I laughed, I was frustrated and I was angry, I cheered them on and even cried right along with them. The plot was heartbreaking and heartwarming and everything in between, but it never lost focus of what it was about -- love. The author must have put a lot of thought into the characters and sub-characters, their reactions and thoughts made them seem more real and not one dimensional. The author moves smoothly between Crick and Deacon’s point of views, and while I got frustrated in the middle of the book because I wanted it to move faster, I believe that was what the author wanted, so that you could understand the characters better. There are some m/m loves scenes. Nothing explicit or that would make a reader uncomfortable. I would say if you are going to read this book make sure you have a lot of time on your hands because it is very hard to put down.
