| Kessa Liah of the Silver lineage is a legend in the Lith'han pride. All the other members know of how she successfully escaped their home to live among the humans, thus threatening the exposure of their kind. What they don't know are the reasons why she had to run away. Valren Nimhah grew up hearing stories of Kessa and has always been fascinated by her. Now Leader King of the Lith'han pride, and in a desperate need for a mate, he sets out to find her and bring her back home to live at his side. Only he finds out the hard way that she's willing to die rather than to go back to what she so
desperately left behind. And Kessa will soon discover it's not so easy to fight off the alluring pull of a powerful alpha male.
I am very surprised by this book. I was a little skeptical at how Ms. Spice would manage to fit such a complex plot in a novella length. Although some parts did move a little too fast for my liking, they were rare and did not disrupt the main story. What's more, the development of this story is so masterfully done, I found almost no fault with the storyline or the characters. I do think, however, that the scene where Kessa sleeps with William and Melanie could have been a little richer in detail, and that the reason behind their difficulty being together could have been explained better. Kessa is a delight, a true encompassing of what it means to be a strong woman, and Valren represents the true love of every woman's dream. The secondary characters, although brief in their appearances, are real and dynamic, and the overall story, though a paranormal romance, is very convincing. I am truly amazed at how well this story was crafted, and I will certainly look for other of Ms. Spice's works.
