| Dutton, Georgia, is a town full of deadly secrets. Teen-aged girls are being murdered, the victims of a sinister black market. Others are being killed to cover up the human sex trafficking. And it's somehow connected the Richie Rich Rapes that occurred thirteen years earlier.
This is the third book The Daniel Vartanian Series and the first chapters rely heavily on information presented in earlier volumes. This was a bit confusing, but the story soon gained momentum in its own right. Susannah Vartanian, Daniel's sister, is hiding guilty secrets. This guilt has left her unwilling and unable to form a true relationship with a man. She's an Assistant District Attorney in New York, trying to take back control of her own life by finding and revealing the truth. She wants to take responsibility for the crimes she believes she has committed. And the author nicely develops Susannah's personal growth. Luke Papadopoulos is an agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He's been involved with internet crimes, and is deeply disturbed by child porn and chat room dangers. Nothing is as it seems. Mistaken identity, greed and sadistic cruelty play big roles as the body count rises, and rises, and rises. Lies unfold and truths confuse the issues even more. The myriad deaths are gruesome and it is sometimes difficult to follow all the nuances and plot twists. The author keeps her readers involved and engrossed, though I was grossed out at times. She gives us lots of suspense in a very gritty contemporary world.
