Cilla Swanner has come to Dunroamin Castle in Scotland to get away from heartache and to escape the mess that she calls life. But when she runs into a gorgeous highlander ghost, what she finds may be more than she can handle. As she finds herself drawn to him more and more, she is also drawn into a world of dark beings, thieves, and curses that could not only end her life, but cost her soul.

Sir Hardwick de Studley of Seagrave was cursed to wander the world forever, pleasing a different woman each night with no hope of fulfillment or true love. To be released from this curse he makes a deal with The Dark One. Then he meets Cilla, the one woman who can make him regret this decision. The one woman he longs to make his, even though to do so would destroy him and forfeit his soul.

Allie MacKay has written an interesting tale of ghosts and curses. I enjoyed this story almost from the first page, as Cilla is a great character. She is unique in that she's not your typical tall, skinny, heroine waiting to be rescued. She is a curvaceous, insecure woman with feelings, that is willing to fight for what she believes in and able to handle whatever comes her way. And the author describes Hardwick in such a way that the reader will fall in love with him. He is handsome, strong and best of all honest and caring. These two wonderful characters make this book a keeper, from their easy banter to their war of wills. It's a story I will read over and over. I would highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a great historical with well-written memorable characters.
