| Avery is wanted for the murder of a senator's son. A murder she didn't commit. Now she's on the run, hiding until she can clear her name. When she's attacked in an alley, she knows she's going to die. The last thing she sees before loosing consciousness is a large man floating down from the sky. When she comes to, she's in a strange room with a strange man who she believes is one those that attacked her.
Jax, vampire and head of the Kindred is patrolling their turf, is ever watchful for their enemy the Etrux. When they find them, it's in an alley with a woman that's been attacked. Dispatching the Etrux is no hardship. Finding Devlin's scent, head of the Etrux, on the woman is a mystery. Her likeness to woman who betrayed him so long ago is also. Leaving her in the alley and to the Etrux isn't an option. Delaney has created a sexy world of vampire gangs, the setting Chicago. Each gang has their own turf and woe be to any gang member crossing into another's turf. When they do, battle rages. However, there is much more to this story that a bunch of gangs killing each other. Woven throughout is a tale of immense greed and obsession for power, human and vampire alike, that will go to any length to achieve their aim. Avery is an innocent victim caught up in their deadly schemes. She's a strong character totally out of her element. Jax is sexy and controlled, he wants Avery desperately but refuses to lower himself to the level of his adversary. Secondary characters are fun and interesting, their interaction had me laughing on several occasions. Kindred was a fun and totally entertaining book to read I'll be on the look out for the next book in this series.
