Shakir comes from a long line Guardians of the Sabol. The guardians are the ones assigned to take care and protect her sleeping body waiting the time in which she will awake. When she does awake it is his duty to walk in front of her protecting her from danger or behind when she needs to lead but it is forbidden for him to walk beside her as her mate. Mutual need and desire makes this last part almost impossible but he will do his duty as Guardian of the Sabol. Awakening of Hope is a fascinating adventure that takes the reader in to some exciting unknown time in the future. Wonderfully creative and highly imaginative this very original story swiftly captures the readers’ attention as it reveals a world that has undergone many changes. A world of magic and make- believe that that will entertain the readers as the Sabol goes about fulfilling her prophecy. The fully formed and delightful characters are easily believable and readers will quickly become attached to the main players. Their emotions and personalities are easily differentiated and readers will find themselves enjoying what makes up each characters identity. Hope is a woman that at the beginning appears lost. Readers will be able to easily identify with her emotions. This character shows an amazing amount of growth through the story. Her skills that develop are sure to fascinate the readers. Her desire for Shakir and her frustration as he reminds her of his place is conveyed to the reader leaving them hoping that the two will eventually find romance. Shakir is a remarkable character to be respected for his seriousness to duty. He is the handsome hero that serves as a temptation to the Sabol. As with many strong characters he has a painful past that makes him feel vulnerable. Readers’ hearts will open to this character. Action and excitement, passion and romance, magic and prophecy this story offers something for everyone that enjoys romantic fantasy. Awakening of Hope is the wonderful debut novel of Suzanne Embree and I can only hope that it is just the first of many that will result from the amazing imagination of this creative author.
