| When Castil finds out her best friend Kareena is getting married, she wants to be happy for her. But Kareena is upset and scared, worried that her soon to be husband will be hideously deformed and cruel. She's heard stories about the infamous King of Helenrisia, and they scare her. When he arrives, she tells her friend that she believes that her worst fears have come true. But Castil has an altogether different view of Doranis, and can't help but wish that she was the one marrying him. Kareena knows her duty, and becomes the wife and Queen of Helenrisia, regardless of how she feels about it. When Kareena eventually writes to Castil and asks her to come for a visit in her new homeland, she jumps at the chance. After all, Kareena is pregnant and Castil wants to be there when she has her child. When she arrives, she finds out that Kareena has died in childbirth, and Castil can't leave because of the weather for another four months. Even though Kareena didn't want her husband, Castil can't help but feel guilty about her growing feelings for Doranis.
Castil and Doranis have an instant connection when they meet, and even though this attraction sparks from the very beginning, neither one of them give in to it's lure out of duty. They do the right thing, Castil backs away, and Doranis does what he muxt. I think from the title and narrative I read I expected a little bit more action and adventure, but it was still a good read. I liked both of the characters, but I didn't feel like I really got to know either one of them. The story doesn't really get erotic until near the end of the tale, but waiting for it makes it all the better. Grace Draven is definitely an author to look out for; I liked her story and will look for more from this talented author.
