Harley Jean Davidson just changed her job and is ready to finally have a stress-free job. But her parents’ mutt King keeps causing troubles because he always runs away. This time its much worse, Diva and Yogi received a random letter saying they have to give the abductors what they want in order to get the dog back. But what is it they want? Nobody seems to know.

Harley can only think of 2 people who would want to take the dog and do something bad with it, and that is their neighbor Mrs. Trumble and their other neighbor Bruno Jett.

When Harley's younger brother Eric finds the collar of the dog just in front of Mr. Jett’s house she has to confront the guy. When he opens the door she sees a bunch of jewelry laying on the table. She forgets about the dog and thinks about her neighbor next door being a big time jewelry thief.

When she goes to meet Mrs. Trumble to ask her if she hasn’t seen the dog, she gets no response and decides to sneak around and enter the house, there.. moaning she meets King! But not only King…laying beside her feet.. is the body of Mrs. Trumble herself…

King’s Ransom is a book full of mystery and humor, just look at the characters name and you’ll know it’ll cause some funny scenes! The plot is very intriguing and well written out! Virginia Brown did a good job with her choice of personalities as she included a wide range of different characters. And their actions are not predictable at all! Lots of mystery together with a sexy neighbor next door.
