Gus Holten loved heroin more than anything in his life. After his second stint in rehab and losing everything, he finally realizes that he needs to take control and responsibility of his life. Six months clean and sober gives him a better outlook in life, but it's still hard and he's still alone. One night Gus meets Morris Pierce and things begin to change for him. Morris is rich, successful, good-looking and attracted to Gus. Gus can't understand why Morris would be interested in him. Yet Morris is and it's up to Gus to decide if he wants the life that Morris is offering him.

Once again, this author offers up another wonderful story that touches our social consciousness while teaching us about love and acceptance, even if it is just learning to accept ourselves. The story itself is nothing new in a general sense, but what makes it stand out is the way it's told and the added bonus of looking at it from the point of view of Gus, a recovering addict. Though Gus is scarred inside and out by his addiction, we go with him on his journey of rediscovering who he is and that he is worthy of being given a second chance at life and love. Morris is great as the patient if somewhat older friend and lover, who helps Gus on his journey. I liked that Morris was understanding and knew that everyone deserves a second chance and was willing to help Gus whether it turned physical or not. While not entirely easy, as the pair do face some obstacles from some overly protective friends, they try to overcome these things through patience and understanding. There are plenty on hot m/m scenes throughout the story, but they are well written and not awkward. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who enjoys m/m fiction.
