| Catherine Terril was not only beautiful, but one of the best stunt women in the business. Her latest job was on a film which took her on location to beautiful Scotland and a castle. A perfect place for the fairytale romance Cat has always dreamed of. But in this day and age it seemed she'd never find that.
After a morning shoot on the set, Cat grew restless and began to explore the castle. It wasn't long before she was lost in the maze of halls and dark passages. Trying to retrace her steps, she is drawn to a lavender mist coming from a stairway. What happened next is still a mystery for Cat was sucked into a portal sending her back in time to the castle's glory days and into the life of Roderic Montwain. Roderic Montwain was a faithful knight of King Alexander. This time it was his king's command was a bit more than Roderic had bargained for. King Alexander's request was for Roderic to marry the daughter of one of the land's cruelest outlaws, Calum Mackay. Though he had never seen Brianna, Roderic promised to follow his king's request. Brianna on the other hand had other ideas and ran away from her father's estate not to be found. Now Calum was in a bind. In order for him to be pardoned from the king, Brianna would have to marry Roderic. It was just then that his men brought Cat to him. It was Calum's idea to have Cat take Brianna's place. After all the man was only an Englishman. What did it matter to him who he sent to marry him? After the initial shock of being in another time wore off, Cat realized that she was stillin the same castle. She could escape but where would she go? How would she get back to her own time? A kindly old woman took pity on the young lass and convinced Cat that Montwain was a good and kind man. She would be safe with him. When Montwain saw Cat he was captured by her beauty. Though he was reluctant to marry anyone he had to admit this woman was a rare jewel. Montwain vowed to his beautiful wife that he would love her all his days and would protect her with his life. The young woman who dreamed of that fairytale love had finally found it but centuries before she was born. Finding true happiness in that time, Cat settled down and was content to be Lady Montwain soon winning the respect and love of all who were under her husband's care. Rodreric had shown her such love and passion that she at times wondered if she was not dreaming all this. It was a dark day when Cat had to make a choice - to either stay with Roderic forever or go back to her time. How could she leave this man who was her life? Would she be able to go back to her own time and forget those nights of passion? I love time-travel stories and as a reader I felt swept back in time to that castle along with Cat. The author has given us a vivid picture of the characters and we can easily see them in our minds as we read. I won't give the ending away but I will say that if you love romance and stories of knights and fair maidens, this is a must read for you.
