Rhoenne Guy de Ramhurst has been awarded a fiefdom in the highlands by his Norman King. He has been given the task of taming the rebels that currently live there. When he is injured and left wandering in the woods, a beautiful, bewitching woman saves him. He longs to possess Aislynn but resists her. He returns to his castle to only meet up with her again as his brother has captured her. He quickly puts her under his protection. No matter how hard he tries to resist the passion that burns between them, he quickly falls for the beautiful healer. With danger, curses, and a king’s decree of marriage to another against them, they struggle to find happiness. But with all that stands against them, can they overcome everything? Or will they both lose it all?

Jackie Ivie knows how to write the best highland romances. I loved the first story in this series, but this one surpassed it. She carries the reader back to a time when honor, loyalty, and strength was everything and love was rare. Rhoenne is such a strong, determined leader who believes love and family are lost to him because of a family curse. And Aislynn is a free spirit with healing powers and enough love and determination to make Rhoenne realize how wrong he is. Where Rhoenne and Aislynn were both strong characters, Sir Harold Montvale made this story. His constant talking and at times sarcastic remarks with them both was at times humorous and at other times I wanted to strangle him. I truly hope he gets his own story. It would be great to see him tamed. I would highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a great historical with a gorgeous, hot tempered hero and a sweet, naive heroine that has to fight all odds including a king’s orders to find love.
