Evangeline Anderson has given us a story that points out the pitfalls of human relationships that have little to do with being bitten. Joe and Kristen are built as basically insecure people who have serious deficiencies in their communication skills. They're drawn to one another on a basic level but neither is able to talk about their feelings. So many relationships seem to go the same kind of route Joe and Kristen travel because they try to read the other person rather than take the chance to ask questions and find out what the other wants and needs. Ms. Anderson does a great job giving us the child Emily with her innocence and Joe's lesbian friend Samantha who's definitely not naive. Each in her own way is a catalyst to help the wanna be lovers open their hearts to one another. This is really a well done love story of two insecure people.
