| Melloney, now Lady Amberly, decided to take over her own future. She had been married 6 weeks to Edmund, the Seventh Earl of Amberly. She overheard two maids discussing the jewels her husband had purchased to present to his latest mistress, Maisie. After the death of her mother, Melloney had no woman to discuss the fiasco of the marriage bed. She was determined to get rid of this mistress.
Edmund's godfather was Lord Reeth, Melloney's step father. He felt obligated to offer for her even though he wasn't sure she would ever be comfortable with him. He did, however, try to take things easy with her so he wouldn't scare her away from him. He made a business trip. When he returned, his life would never be the same routine. Ms. Meta Matthews has presented us with a very fast-paced, erotic book about London in 1817. I'll admit I was taken by surprise at the direction she took this plot. It was, however, an enjoyable read. Her characters were realistic. They were especially believable. The shocking conclusion threw me—I'll admit, it never crossed my mind. The secondary characters worked very well with each other. The sensual activities were very explicit—not for the faint of heart. It did not, however, deter from the storyline. The great story used these scenes—they were not written just to be sex. I am impressed with Ms. Matthews. I'll definitely look for her in the future. I do recommend this book.
