Chloe was grieving the death of her father, but more than that she was feeling the hopelessness of being alone except for her Aunt Helen. The reason for her feelings was she knew she would now be expected to marry Lord Devlin as her father had intended. This was something she did not want to do because of rumors that he had raped his last wife before he married her and that he had buried three wives already. She could not find any way of getting out of this arrangement and knew Lord Devlin would come to her soon. She was frustrated and she was afraid. Then she remembered her childhood friend, Ian. Ian had been fostered at Blacksdown. If anyone could save her it would be her friend Ian and she knew just what she had to do.

Lady Blacksdown is a passionate and erotic medieval romance that features the concerns of women during this era. Arranged marriages for alliances between powerful men for politics or land were common. A woman's feelings were very rarely considered when a husband was being chosen for her. This is such a case in Lady Blacksdown, where Chloe fears the man she has been told to marry. The story shows the emotions that the woman faces in such a situation. Julie Sanford does a wonderful job of expressing emotions through her writing. The fear and desperation are felt clearly when reading. The chemistry is present from the very beginning of bringing Ian and Chloe together and passion flares brightly between the two. Erotic images are easily visualized through the author's explicit descriptions. Heated scenes of passion are both exciting and stimulating as they are frequently described in the story. The richly developed characters seem real as what they experience seems justified. The dialogue flows smoothly conveying the thoughts and emotions of the characters. Lady Blacksdown is an emotionally passionate story of medieval romance that is sure to be enjoyed by the readers.
