Sean is tired of being a Foreman for the exclusive Academy. At one point in time he enjoyed it, but it’s cost him too much. The wife he pines over, for one thing. His Master and lover, Phillipe, the Director of the Academy, hasn’t spoken to him in three years and it’s been agony. When he’s told he needs to accomplish training one more Entrant, he’s not looking forward to it, but knows that once it’s over, he’ll be done and he’d to Europe to be with Phillipe. But this is an Entrant like no other and the events that follow will change his life forever.

This was a wonderful tale the kept my attention throughout the entire five hundred and sixty pages, which at first I thought was way too long. But as I got into the story, I soon realized it would every bit of that, and more, to complete such an intricately woven tale like this one. The character of Mary Jo starts out one way and ends up so completely different, but I didn’t really get a feel for the transformation. Was she always the way she ends up, or did she not know who she was at first but then once she begins her dance with Sean, she figures it out? This was a bit confusing to me and I would have loved to feel a little more of this.

Some of the BDSM scenes made me cringe when I read them and I actually had to reread them to make sure I had gotten it right. Don’t worry, when you get there, you’ll know exactly what ones I am talking about. But I’m sure that’s exactly what the author was going for.

The one thing I wasn’t too sure about was the history of all the characters. There were so many names and past lives that it was hard to keep track of who was who, who used to be who, and then they were that person. See? And with these past lives, we find that many were related in the past and those same spirits are with me. At times, during some of the scenes, I kept thinking “Ew! They’re actually brothers! But it was in a past life, so does it still count?” I just wasn’t jazzed about the whole idea of incest.

But with that niggle aside, it truly was a wonderful book to read and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment!
