Lady Elinor Ashworth has been living with her abusive Aunt Sara for three years. Her aunt's mind had been deteriorating until she had not only struck her once again but was now threatening her with a gun. Elinor knew if she didn't escape her aunt may really murder her. She decided she had to leave and escape to London. There she could find her dear Mimi and be safe with her.

When she got to the Horse and Cart Inn she found out that the stage did not stop there at all. She was frightened of what might happen if her aunt found her.

Stephen Chaplin was known for being a rescuer of women in need. His soft heart had even caused him to have a retreat called Bishop's Haven for their protection. When he saw the distraught Elinor at the inn he could do nothing else but offer her a ride to London. But she was very mysterious and would give him no information about herself, leading him to believe she was escaping an abusive husband.

LADY ELINOR'S ESCAPE, by Linda McLaughlin is fast paced story in this wonderful regency style. Her characters live on the pages and the reader is pulled in to anxiously find the happy ending. Ms. Mclaughlin has an excellent writing style and has mastered her craft to perfection. If the reader likes regency then this book is definitely a must read. I look forward to her next release.
