| Joanna was writing a series of articles For the Magazine "Woman in action." One article was about regression by hypnosis. People are hypnotized and are regressed to a life before this life. Jo did not believe in regression and would write the article from her view point. She decided to try hypnosis herself by a doctor who specialized in regression. Unknowingly, she started a ball rolling and she had to see it to the end. While in a trance, she became Matlida de Braose married to Sir William, a crude, brutal husband. The first time under hypnosis, Jo lived six months as Matlida in a few hours. Later, unwillingly, Jo started to regress herself. Things stated to happen in her present life that Jo did not understand.
This was a well thought out, detailed story with so many twists and turns it gave the plot a new dimension. There was a definite line between past and present for the reader but confusion for the characters themselves. I began reading this book expecting one thing and it surprised me with something else. All the characters were well defined and completely believable. I actually found myself with tears in my eyes a few times. The historical aspect was well written and as the plot became more intense, I was rooting for multiple characters. This book kept me up reading late at night.
