Indiana is a new experience for Martin Grey. Actually, the United States, all total, is a new experience for him. Martin’s a British banking type who’s fallen in love with an American realtor. He’s smitten enough to follow her over the pond and even seriously commit to living with her in the U. S. Seemingly the proper British gent, maybe even a bit too on the normal side, reality is that when Martin’s not managing other people’s money, he’s a paranormal or, as better known, a ghost hunter. In fact, he and Claudia Mackenzie met when she was having otherworldly problems with a property she was selling overseas. All’s well until Martin meets Claudia’s family over Thanksgiving dinner – her uncomplicated mother, her combative father, and her sweet, unassuming, virginal sister, Caroline . . . who works as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital beset by spirits both evil and good. From then on, all heaven – and hell – breaks loose.

Lady In White is an entertaining ghost story, with a lot of twists and turns, and a surprisingly intricate plot. It tells a sensual love story, hot though rarely sizzling. I found the tale to be the strong point, more so than the characters, or the romantic situations in which they found themselves. It felt as if the author was more comfortable with the building mystery than with building intricate relationships. To be fair, though, this is the third in a series, and the second featuring the major characters – Martin and Claudia – together. It’s likely those relationships were cemented earlier in the game, so I would recommend reading Mr. Grey and the Hotel Ghosts, at least, before tackling this one. As a stand-alone, it is a fun read for anyone who enjoys working their brain around a whodunit ghost story . . . with some sex and romance tossed in!
