| Morganna poses as a boy after her family is killed in order to survive. She learns to fight and defend herself and soon has skill with weapons. She is captured and made a squire by Alexander who doesn't know that she is a woman. She keeps up the guise of a boy and becomes his right hand man. Things get sticky when her feelings for Alexander start to change, but of course she can never tell him that she is a woman for fear her true identity will be revealed.
Alexander finds the boy and decides to keep him as a squire. He never thinks that the boy is really a woman in disguise, even when he starts to have unusual feelings for the boy. As time passes his infatuation with Morgan grows and he questions what is happening to him that he is so taken with a mere boy. In vengeance a passion to rival all others will develop, but what happens when the ruse is discovered and the boy is found out to be the daughter of a most hated enemy? This book was very interesting to read and the lush historical background will certainly impress the reader and take them back in time to a land of beauty and the savage men who ruled it. Morganna is a wonderful heroine that most women will cheer for. In the face of defeat she doesn't cower down, but picks herself up and moves on. Alexander is completely oblivious to the fact that Morgan, is really a woman and you wonder how dense can he be? There is action and plenty of adventure for the readers who like a non-stop plot. This is the first book by Jackie Ivie that I have read and will certainly be on the lookout for more of her work in the future.
