Hattie Williams is an artist. While drawing a picture of an ancient, Egyptian necklace, she finds herself confronted by the King's Great Wife, God's Wife of Amun, Lady of the Two Lands, Hatsheput. The Pharoah explains to her that only she can help save Egypt, and her stepson. Hattie awakens three thousand years ago, in the body of the queen.

Thrown into the center of intrigue, Hattie has to function as the regent for Hatsheput's young stepson. Murder plots abound, and Hattie's only friend is the Royal Architect, Senemut. He is intelligent, handsome, honorable and far more open-minded than the Egyptian "establishment."

This was an enjoyable read. I loved the way Ms. Delisi pointed out the inevitable disconnect between Hattie's homeworld and that of ancient Egypt. From bathing to ruling, Hattie has multiple adjustments to make, as do the people around her. The author humorously points out multiple small actions which we take for granted, and which we, too, would miss dearly. Cultural differences are highlighted, and add depth to the story. The portrait of Ancient Egypt is well drawn, and was my favorite part of the book. Where is that Raamses exhibit now?
