| Miss Victoria Archer was stuck in a tree; she was governess to Miss Ellie Preston, whose favorite game was getting her new governess’s stuck up that tree. Soon thereafter, the last three had quit! Would Miss Archer be next? Victoria sat in the tree waiting for Ellie to get somebody to help her down. Ellie’s uncle, William Preston, Lord Kingston, came with the little girl carrying a ladder to save this new employee of his parents.
When he climbed the tree and sat on the branch with her, he questioned her and then dropped a bombshell! He knew sight unseen, that this was really Lady Christine Claybourne, the run-away bride-to-be of his brother, John. How had she managed to run away and end up in the household of her intended future in-laws? What a fiasco Christine’s life was! Would William tell who she was? How long would it be before John showed up? Her biggest concern right now was how to keep William quiet! Ms.Dickson did an incredible job writing this light-hearted story about loving someone very quickly! Disaster was written over the entire story, and calamity abounded! I really loved the way Ms. Dickson portrayed the entire family and treated the situation of second son and favoritism within the family. What happened when Christine had a goal in mind and it wasn’t marriage? The Lady’s Bargain is an unbelievable interpretation. This book is a wonderful, fast-paced story I guarantee you will love.
