| Lady Davina Wyckham wants nothing more then to be free of her abusive husband Lord Wyckham. She is willing to do almost anything to accomplish this goal. Even if it means being falsely accused of adultery, cut from the Ton, or bargaining shelter from the one man she never wanted to see again. Lord Thomas Steynes, Viscount Savoury, has come back to his family home. He plans to restore his heritage but soon finds himself rescuing his nemesis's wife! Knowing what Lord Wyckham is capable of, Lord Savoury feels protective of the woman society calls "Lady Wicked". In a time where women are little more then chattel, how will they overcome this? Can Savoury keep Davina safe and not lose his heart to her in the process?
In the beginning you get a picture of the abused and shunned Davina. Everyone is against her but that doesn't stop her from doing what she has to in order to survive. Lord Savoury is nothing but patient. It was refreshing to have the hero not be a "superman" type. He was kind and came home with "strays" as Davina called them. I loved the fact that they seemed so real! The reactions to events in the book where reactions real people out in the world would have. I did enjoy the main love story but the people that stole the show were the secondary characters. Jimmy and Chester were the ones that squeezed my heart. They kept the story alive with the sweet, laugh out loud, sad and hopeless moments. I cried a quite a few times. The plot was not too in depth. It was enough to keep me reading on but I felt the villain in the story could have made a few more appearances then he did. All in all, Lady Wicked would be a book that I would recommend. (In fact, I have bought and read some of her other books since this one!) If you want a sweet story with real reactions, people, situations and something to pass time, then this one is for you!
