Susan Pell was furious with her live in boyfriend, Don, and this was the last straw! For five years they had lived together but Don Adams had torn their relationship apart by cheating on her with his plastic boobs secretary. For years, Don had forced her to diet and only allowed her to eat chocolate ice cream once a month--and she had let him dictate his demands to her when all the time he had not wanted a sleek model's body! Susan remembered their final argument before she had thrown him out of her house. Don had shot Susan a parting shot that no one would want her skinny ass but him and that she would crawl back to him within three months. Then he slammed the front door, leaving Susan crying for an hour. Sure Don had been handsome with his golden hair and great body, but Susan knew that it was not the first time that he had cheated and if she stayed with him it would not be the last. So how could she trust him again? Susan vowed that she would never be hurt again and with that in mind, she sold her home then moved to Sierra, Nevada where she purchased a quaint home that was rumored to be haunted by the elderly couple who had lived there.

Susan had loved the house on first sight and didn’t mind that it needed a little TLC. Susan loved her new job working at Dragon's Plunder where she read tarot cards to earn her living. That had been eighteen months ago, but Susan was still leery of dating and her friends who owned the shop told her that it was time to date again that they had the perfect man in mind. That was when the bells on the door tingled announcing a customer. And what a fine customer he was with his broad shoulders, tanned skin, tight jeans with a cowboy hat in his hand. Yummy! But when they shook hands, it felt as though lighting had zapped down their bodies and each of them jumped way.

Max Lancaster was uncomforted from the time he stepped into Dragon's Plunge. But a bet was a bet and he would have the tarot cards tell him his future--not that he believed that mumbo jumbo. But he would get the reading and be done with it and then move on. As he shook hands with Susan, he got the shock of his life in more ways than one!

Kit Wylde is a fantastic writer and I loved her style of writing as it was an easy read. Last Chance was quite believable, flowed well and I sympathized with her boyfriend problems and I cheered when Susan gave Don the boot! Ms. Wylde has created the perfect love story with a second chance happily ever after ending!
