In the fantasy world of Kegin, life before Unification was bloodthirsty and often terrifying. But at turning points, the Universe seems to send individuals, strong and independent, to change the course of known history. For Kegin, such were four women, each of whom believed herself to be "the last of the daughters of Fion," the Queen of the gods and goddess of love, mercy, and balance. Once a matriarchal priestesss clan existed in devotion to Fion, until destroyed by the Lengar conquerors.

In order to save the remnants of the clan, the Mother sends young Deliya, yet a child, in company of Loric, who had already proven fertile among the priestesses, as her protector, and eventually father of the next generation of priestesses--or so she can only hope. For the Lengar are near at hand to complete their conquest. Seven years later, the last Daughter is discovered and rescued by Ro Ti, grandson of the Magden lord who had in his cowardice and greed refused to aid Fion's Daughters in avoiding the Lengar conquest. A strong-willed woman of independent mind, Deliya values her continued service to the goddess above all else, even her life, and scorns the Magden for the cowardice of two generations earlier.

The Last of Fion's Daughters is a complex fantasy tale showcasing the fine world-building talents and imaginative gift of author Brenna Lyons. Deeply detailed, the story entices readers and encourages them to seek out other tales in the Kegin History series. Characters who are well-delineated and a strong plot line increase the interest, and Ms. Lyons excellently weaves in mythological, legendary, and historical background to the Kegin world. Readers will find this one an excellent addition to their keeper shelf.
