| Margaret Murphy Ryder (Murph to her friends) was on an excursion. After her husband decided he wanted another woman, they divorced. He got the dog—she got the RV. She decided, much to her daughters’ consternation, that she was going to take off and explore. She would have no deadlines and no certain destination. For the first time in her life, she would only please herself. When she arrived in Spoonhill Beach, Louisiana, she was introduced to The Last Resort RV Park.
How Murph experienced her reawakening was a journey in itself. She met several people who became important to her and, even though she left, she returned and decided to purchase the run-down RV Park. If anyone would have told her she would reconnect with the man who had been her fantasy for so many years, she would have laughed. However, she did find Lee Soloman again and that encounter would change her life. Emily Forrest has written an explicit look at reinvention which took place after a woman who had dedicated her life to a husband and children takes over and makes her own decisions. This story about a strong, yet vulnerable, main character who searched and found her specific place in this world was interesting and, at times, poignant. This journey is explicitly written. She experienced quite a few ultimately sensual activities. This book was definitely not for the timid, but the storyline was captivating. I had trouble putting the book down. It was fast paced and exciting. The actions of the main characters were sometimes surprising and always attention-grabbing. The ending, though vague, wasn’t as strong as I would have liked. It was surprising how the finality came to be.
