| Torrance Watson works in her best friend's paranormal bookshop, hoping to make a happy life for herself. Brought up by a mother who went through men like tissues and would take her little girl with her to horror movies when she was between men. Torry has had nightmares ever since. Mason Dillinger, a half-breed werewolf, has been a Bloodrunner for many years. He and his partner were assigned to chase and kill rogue vampires, those who hunt humans for pleasure. Mason felt as though Torry was his mate from the moment he met her, but he was afraid to love her. Torrance will not be like her mother and will only love one person for life. Will Torry and Mason be able to work out their relationship and will Mason be able to capture the changing rogue werewolves? Last Wolf Standing is the first of Ms. Byrd's werewolf Bloodrunner trilogy. Torrance was an incredibly appealing woman with a great deal of love in her. Mason was more difficult for me to get to know because he was afraid of love and because he didn't want to end up like his brother. I ended up feeling sorry for Mason and was rooting for him to be able to keep Torrance. In the meantime, Torrance and Mason have incredibly erotic sex. I was shaking as I read about their sexual encounters. The secondary characters were equally well written and were important parts of this excellent plot. There was a mystery about rogue werewolves who were changing and I am eager to read the next book, Last Wolf Hunting, which will continue this wonderful series and mystery. Ms. Byrd is a wonderful author and she has started another wonderful series.
