| Sarah Jamison had lost everything when the fire destroyed the family home as well as causing the death of her parents. There was nothing left for her in Missouri and her only hope was the position of school teacher that she applied for in a small town in Texas called Paradise. Though Paradise wasn't a big town it did have it's charm and a place that Sarah could call home.
Derek Comstock and his seven year-old son John were the first citizens of Paradise she met as she got off the train in Dallas. Derek was part of the committee that had arranged for Sarah to be accepted for the position. A young widower who had lost his childhood sweetheart only a few years back he was left to raise his son but even that could not fill the void in his life. Somehow he seemed to feel that Sarah also had suffered heartache, though not like his but still the pain was there. He wanted to help her and to be a shoulder to lean on. Two individuals who shared a common bond found friendship just as soon it was clear that friendship could not be enough. Being Sarah was the new single female in town she was sought after by a few admirers, the minister's son for one who was a sweet man yet Sarah could not take the handsome Derek out of her mind. The other was Jackson Quinn, an unsavory character who came into town a few years back and still no one had a clue where he was from or what he did. It wasn't until Quinn threatened Sarah did Derek step in and the two were married. Now if you think that the story is over don't go closing the book, there are a few more adventures in store for Sarah. I love characters who are totally different of the country and find that common bond of friendship and love. A light read but worth it.
