| I have to admit, they had me at the blurb for this novella. Yes, I was smiling as I typed that. This story begins with our heroine Laney St. Clair. She got all dressed up, make-up, heals and had her hair done all so she can try to get Heath Marsterson's attention. Yes, he knows who she is, but most of the time she's dressed in dirty overalls since she is a mechanic in her family's garage. Regardless of her tom-boyish tendencies, she has been in lust with Heath for about five years and is tired of everyone treating her like a young girl. Heath is the Alpha of his pack, he respects Laney's three older brothers but he feels he needs a strong mate rather than a full human, weak one.
Okay, now I'm chuckling at our poor alpha, he obviously has no idea. The two of them do get together for intense, hot and incredible sex. Besides thinking she isn't strong enough to be his mate, our boy makes a few tragic mistakes (which end with my amusement, not Laney's). Because of those, Laney thinks he doesn't really want her. They seem to spend the first half of the story arguing, having sex or not speaking to each other. The ex-alpha makes the mistake of thinking she is just a worthless human and kidnaps her. Boy, does she make him pay (in her own way). Ms. Nicholls has given us an exciting romp with these two! I loved all the characters, especially Laney's mother (who rocked) and Heath's sister who was always telling Heath he was an idiot. I TOTALLY loved how Laney dealt with the ex-alpha! I thought Heath was dignified when he finally realized she wasn't too weak to be his mate. This is a fun, fun story and I couldn't put it down!
