In Eastern Texas in May 1870, manipulation after death was still apparent. Rafe Sinclair had just discovered through his grandfather’s lawyer that he must marry in a hurry. He must be married by June 1st, his 30th birthday, or forfeit the Circle S Ranch. There is no way he can adequately express his anger. There seemed to be no limit to those women in town who were interested in filling the vacancy as Mrs. Sinclair.

Emma Radcliff was different. She wore pants and worked all day raising and training horses. Her entire life was at her father’s ranch. When she was five years old, she told everyone she was going to marry Rafe. The older ranch hands never allowed her to forget that statement. Then, when searching for her father about a problem with one of their horses, she found out that he had “sold” her to Rafe. The two men had made a bargain and Emma had absolutely no say in this arrangement.

She was unable to refuse to marry him, but Emma demanded that Rafe sign a statement that he would never consummate the marriage unless she changed her mind. In addition to that restriction, this couple faced a myriad of problems with “family members” trying to alter the outcome of the wedding. The sub characters were so believable and appeared just often enough to really cause havoc in the newlyweds’ lives. This fast-paced, sometimes funny, often poignant story was so addictive that it was impossible to put down. I read throughout the night to finish.

Once again Beth Williamson has delivered an exciting western tale about a couple plagued with seemingly insurmountable problems. In her amazingly talented way, Ms. Williamson has proven yet again why she is on so many auto-buy lists. Her fresh looks and her exciting plots confirm that her storylines are appealing to so many readers.

I am a fan of Ms. Williamson and consider anything she writes as must-reads. This book will prove to be a great addition to your library. You will be glad you have read it.
