| Emma Chandler was a 25-year-old woman who lived at home with her preacher father. She had left college and returned home when her mother got sick. After she died, Emma stayed to take care of her father. She had been devastated three years ago when she caught her fiancé cheating. She was in no hurry to allow herself to be hurt again. She maintained an unofficial after-school day care center for children from single-parent or troubled homes. She was closest to a 10-year-old boy, Danny Morelli, who found a wallet full of money and credit cards. Because of Emma’s influence, he had turned it in to the police department.
Dr. Keith Sullivan was a neurosurgeon whose wife died two years previously. She was a devoted Christian who had encouraged Keith in his faith. He had trouble with his two children, Peter, age 8, and Rebekah, 6 years old. Peter had withdrawn because he blamed his father for not being able to save his mother. His work schedule left Keith little time to spend with his two precious children. He couldn’t let go of Marisa’s memory—he still wore his wedding ring. When he reported his wallet missing, the policeman gave him little hope of finding it. When he heard it was found, intact, he wanted to give the young boy a reward. Ms. Elizabeth Pina has made a name for herself with her writing style and her intriguing way of telling a story. This book was full of mixed emotions and her characters were strong and very interesting. The characters are many and the feelings are captivating. The plot was developed in such a way that it was impossible to put down this beautiful love story. The storyline was not “cookie cutter” and the surprises were many. The poignant way she presented this book was an interesting look into the lives of a couple of adults who were seeking someone to love. I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone. The ending was definitely unexpected. The book was written so that anyone could enjoy it regardless of age. Great job, Ms. Pina! I look forward to reading other works by this author.
