The Midnite Star sits on the edge of the void known as The Zone. The commander Admiral Jakie Vox has been on a mission for the past year to rescue his sister Chaka from the clutches of her cousin Bella Donna. Among the crew of the Star are various royalties from across the galaxy, all relatives or their intendeds. Cousins' Su-dio, Rozanna, Chaka, and a soon-to-be cousin-in-laws, Jessie and Fernando tell the story of the mission and their troubled love lives.

This can be a very confusing story for the reader as each chapter is narrated by a different person from a different point of view. Not all of the princesses are very likeable; by the end I really found Su-dio and Rozanna to be ineffectual, and Fernando to be way too spoiled. Chaka and Jessie were the only characters that I still found likeable by the end of the book. The male characters were no better; I especially was confused by the relationship between Fernando and her fiancé Alban. On the plus side, there is a good storyline with plenty of action, and the villains were satisfyingly evil. The subplot of the kidnapped humans is interesting also. I was also interested in the interplanetary politics and the familial relationships between the characters. I also had to laugh at the character names of the women, they also seem to be related to pop music from the eighties, and I laughed out loud at Rozanna's fiancé's name, Rufus Lee, which is also a name for an insanity hearing. The author is very witty and the dialogue reflects this, but I just wish the story had been told from one point of view instead of five.
