Ruth Caldwell-an accident looking for a place to happen! Now the fifth finishing school said it was "through" trying to make a lady out of her. Ruth returned home again, this time to find that her Mother was dying, and had made plans to send Ruth to her Father in St. Louis, Missouri. When Ruth finally arrived and found that her father had recently died, the story really became fascinating. Joshua McCain and his father were, supposedly, the only inheritors of Alan Caldwell's half of the Broken P Ranch. Josh had met this particular stage in hopes that a woman he had sent for to be a companion to his sister, Laney would be onboard. He was assured when he looked at Ruth that she was 'Alan Caldwell in a dress.'

Ruth's accidents became more frequent and much more severe as she became better known and as she worked around the ranch. She loved being at the Broken P, but someone did not want her there. Josh, of course, becomes enamored with Ruth, but he is greatly concerned with her mishaps. As they become more catastrophic and her life seems to be in danger, Josh finds that the more he is around her, the more he cares. With the strong faith in God that Josh, Laney and Ruth have, they constantly try to leave the situation in God's hands.

This book is a very fine example of how God can take care of His children even when it seems that there is nowhere to turn and nobody to help. I really enjoyed this novel. The title, Letter Perfect, comes from a special statement that Ruth told Laney about her reading and, later, Josh told Ruth. Ms. Cathy Marie Hake has written a charming book which is suspenseful and fast-paced. There are parts which will make a reader laugh; others will make her cry. I believe that anyone who enjoys historical, inspirational literature will enjoy this book. I wholeheartedly recommend it to you.
