Heidi Weiss is a librarian in her 40's in a small town in the South. She has a wonderful reputation and is well known in the community. She encourages children to read, speaks often to the local church matrons, and always greets any visitors with a freshly baked cookie. She appeals to everyone because of her loving heart and generous nature. But Miss Weiss has a secret life few of the townspeople know about. She wears a special ankle bracelet, which shows her membership in a private club where all the members participate in unlimited sexual exploration. However, this exploration is done only with other club members and marriages occur between members only. There is a potential for danger in this story from Miss Grundy, a very spiteful gossip, who routinely watches Miss Weiss. Will she uncover Miss Weiss' secret life?

This book has a very different lifestyle for the main characters in the story. I found the characters to be attractive, charming, well educated and was delightfully surprised by the full participation in the club of a man in his 70's. The lifestyle shared by the main characters is not one you would encounter often; however, I think the respect shared by all the members toward each other and the genuine joy they felt in their exploration was well-written by Miller. There is a scene at a costume party where one of the club members is dressed as a Zulu warrior. I found that scene very erotic, especially since I have a lot of good warrior fantasies. Heidi is a very enjoyable character and easy to love. She makes this story worth reading. This story challenges open-mindedness. If you aren't open-minded in your life but are in your imagination, mind and heart, you will enjoy this story. I really enjoyed this book but believe it has a special audience because of the nature of the private club.
