At the reading of her late mothers will, Laurell Pittman learns she has been left the inheritance, but she doesn't want the money. She only wishes enough out to keep Grave Manor running. Laurell is also given a black book, known as the Book of Shadows. She will have to look inside to see the meaning. More than anything she wishes a child but is certain that will never happen until she meets Axiom, who kidnaps her immediately after the will is read. She believes him to be nuts when he insist he is a god made flesh. Axiom will do anything to join the Divine Council of the Light Realm. He must mate with Laurell and produce a child that will be an Earth Balancer. She refuses to accept his story about some child being an Earth Balancer, but the yearning in him draws them together. What will Laurell really do once she opens the book to learn she has a magical background and is a witch? Can she deny the facts once she learns the truth, and give into Axiom?

I have to say the beginning of Between Light and Dark pulled me in like a magnet. Laurell portrays a believable character from the get-to. Axiom emits a sensuality that leaps from the pages. He could be my hero any day of the week. The secondary characters were intriguing. Elissa Wilds pens a read that captivated me until the dramatic conclusion. I like the world she creates with all the different blends of characters within the story. I enjoyed the way Axiom and Laurell connected with each other. I could almost see the complete reaction of Laurell with Axiom and the vile creature. I found it really an intense scene, along with many others throughout this terrific read.
