| While Julianne is on a dive investigating the ruins of the Lighthouse of Alexandria she is somehow transported to the time of its construction. The Pharaoh is Ptolemy II; he is the one that discovers Julianne. This golden hair beauty in her strange clothing intrigues Ptolemy, who has become bored with his concubines. He accepts her as a woman in need of help but his advisors feel she may be something evil sent to bewitch their pharaoh. He will have to make her his slave to save her life. In turn it will be Julianne that enslaves Ptolemy with her love.
The title of this story comes from the location of this time-travel adventure, The Lighthouse of Alexandria. The lighthouse and its purpose are stated clearly throughout this story. It is described with documented facts as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Those readers that enjoy history may find these facts stated at the beginning of this story very interesting. The two main characters are Julianne and Ptolemy. Julianne is intrigued with the history that is happening before her eyes. She takes things as they come and accepts her fate. Ptolemy is a leader that is tired of war. He wants someone to love him as a man, not just because he is pharaoh. The romance between these two is brief because war intrudes. But the time they spend together is quite passionate. This is a story filled with action and surprises. The dialogue is well written and easy to follow. I feel this is a story that combines facts with fiction in a creative manner that brings entertainment to the readers. Starla Childs does a remarkable job of writing a romance that could also be used as a teaching tool. Her story will appeal to history buffs as well as those readers that just enjoy a good romance.
