| Felix has lost his ancestral home, his fiancée, and has become all too well-acquainted with his fist. But things start looking up when he meets the electrifying daughter of the new owners, Erin Markov. She is impulsive and stimulating in bed and out. Unfortunately, she has the unnerving habit of risking her life dancing in lightning storms, rollerblading down massive hills in the dark, and even jumping around unsafe roofs like a mountain goat, as well as the exasperating inclination to nibble him.
Erin has amnesia and her supposed parents have abandoned her in a majestic dump with instructions to avoid the sun and a supply of yucky Plasmix. Discovering Felix next door, life seems much more delicious! Lightning in a Bottle is as electrifying and addicting as its name suggests. Elsborg has crafted a very passionate tale that just happens to be exceptionally funny as well. There are copious amounts of sex from the very beginning, but there is a certain tenderness underlying the rowdy and rambunctious displays of ardor. There is an immediate bond between the protagonists but this does not hinder their character development and I quickly acquired a huge affection for them. Felix and Erin have both gone through a great deal, but remain quirky and likeable characters. The story is well-paced with a tightly written plot that doesn't rely on just sex to carry the story. Despite the hilarity of the dialogue and actions of the characters, the author has also skilfully woven a rather intense mystery into the supposed vampiric romantic comedy that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The author’s sly British humor is an added bonus and although this book is third in the Trueblood series and I have not had the pleasure of reading the previous books, it works well as a standalone. This ridiculously funny and extremely sexy tale about an amnesiac (maybe) vampire and a down-on-his-luck Lord of the Realm/sculptor cannot be missed. Note: Forced Sex, Sexual Torture and Sex with Knives as part of plot.
