| The quiet little town of St. Gabrielle Florida was the perfect location for True West Productions' new hit series, Murder in Florida. After the success of the previous two vehicles, McMartin Studios were confident that the third in the series of mysteries would be a hit. But even the best laid plans do go wrong.
Sitting in the dimly lit set was Sage McCall, looking down at her feet where the lifeless body of a crewman, Evan Davis is sprawled with an arrow protruding form his chest. Cause of the muder was obvious or so it seemed. Who did it and for what reason was another question. Sage McCall was the chief of Security for McMartin's Studios and a highly trained professional. The fact that she had the looks and shape of a Hollywood starlet had nothing to do with her competence at her job. Yet there were a few who would question how the daughter of McCall's Security would have such a job. One was Jon Maddux, Chief of Police in St. Gabrielle. Maddux really was not thrilled with the idea of the Studio coming to his little town and felt that Sage was just another pretty face who got the job cause Daddy was the boss. It was a reluctant Sage who made the call to Maddux when she found the body along with one of her employees. True she didn't relish the idea of dealing with the police chief yet it was her job to inform him. He immediately took over the crime scene and made it known he was in charge of the investigation. The fact that he was not only handsome and had the build of a movie star didn't change the fact that he was still arrogant in Sage's mind. He, on the other hand, referred to her as Malibu Barbie, but he really thought of her as something else. The crime had forced these two to work closely on the case and with each new attack on the set the stress and emotions they felt were not just from the case, they were attracted to each other. Each cast and crew member were questioned and no one was excluded from the case. With the discovery of another crew man unconscious, the attempt to poison the entire crew and cast, not to mention the attempt on Sage's life, it was clear that it wasn't just a simple murder of Evan Davis they were looking at. But who was doing it? Who was the person in the shadows always watching, plotting the next attack, and for what purpose? A wonderful who-done-it! I was glued to the chapters and had no hint to who it was - even at the end I was surprised. I'm sure readers will be also. The author has given the readers a good story and do hope we see more of her work, She has given us a hint there will be more at the end of this one.
