Lorie is in more trouble than she can dig her way out of. Her mother was murdered and she’s somehow ended up as bait for a group of men trying to fight the monster that killed her mother. Trouble is, all the people that were supposed to jump in and save her are dead… so what’s a girl to do? Run until you find help…

Jack and Tommy came to this city in order to help round up the Hydes, and instead of welcome they are finding no help at all. They desperately need someone to feed from, and when Lorie falls into their lap they can’t resist. When it all comes to a head, they find out there is more going on than they could ever imagine.

The story jumped around a lot and I found it hard to get to know the characters and believe in them. Jack and Tommy didn’t really resonate with me, I couldn’t really understand where they were coming from and that took some of the interest away for me. The other thing that was hard to deal with was that the passion between Jack and Lorie didn’t really strike a match with me. I didn’t believe they were together because they couldn’t do without each other, more because it was convenient due to the situation. I didn’t get to know Tommy at all and I would have liked to, he sounded pretty complicated from what I could gather. I should mention here that there is a very violent scene at the end with the insinuation of forced sex, just so you are not surprised when you read it. Some of the dialog got disracted me a bit because it seemed that it was sometimes trying too hard to use the slang of the forties and falling flat. Overall this story could have been great because it does have an intriguing story line and non stop action. If you like that kind of story, give it a try.
