Carolynn Carey has written an exceptionally humorous and warm look at a family from the mother's self deprecating point of view. It may seem especially good for those of us who've survived those teen years with our kids wondering if they'll ever understand that we did our best whether they liked it or not at the time. This book is full of superb dialogue and characters, each adding another facet to the story. The author does well describing Sandra, Marti's friend who's helped keep her sane through the years. Everyone should have that kind of best friend! Diane starts as a friend but peters out as her motivation becomes more self centered. Candie and Genna are well developed as being able to cope with just that extra bit of motherly advice to help them decide what’s best for them. Marti is one of those characters who helps all of us mothers and wives feel less alone with the emotions most people probably feel at some time! This is one of those novels wrapped in good country values, morals, and a lot of laughter. It’s easy to recommend it as a book that’s most likely to brighten your day.
